Big Tree recently set out to create a video that would transport the viewer to a place both magical and unique, and reflect the mysticism of the track “Augury” from their latest full length release,
This New Year.”This song is about succumbing to forces so much bigger than you or me, whether it’s letting yourself fall in love or letting the universe tug you in a new direction,” says singer Kaila McIntyre-Bader. “Augury is a sort of divination. I like to imagine the augurs of Ancient Rome fortelling the future just by paying attention to things most people forget to notice today, like the flight of birds and interpretations of our dreams.”The ladies of Big Tree spent a day shooting at Rodeo Beach just over the Golden Gate Birdge in the Marin Headlands with the talented Bay Area Director Michael Mizono. Additional footage was filmed by Daniela Mora on Easter Island, the most remote inhabited island in the world.
It is referred to as
Rapa Nui by the natives, and is covered in epic stone statues of gigantic proportions called
Moai.Big Tree will be finishing the summer with another brand new music video, followed by a busy fall that will see the release of new studio recordings tracked and mixed at Oakland’s New, Improved Recording with Eli Crews (tUnE-yArDs, ?uestlove of the Roots, Nels Cline of Wilco, and many more) along with an October run of the West Coast and Pacific Northwest featuring headlining bills at Oakland’s New Parish on October 4th and SF’s Bottom of the Hill on October 19th.
